This cottage sited on approx 2.3 acres is at the foot of Sliabh an Iarainn - Iron Mountain - where the Tuatha Dé Danann, the Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Ireland, were said to have landed their floating ships in ancient times. It was here that the Fir Bolg champion Sreng fought the Tuatha Dé Danann champion Bres. Goibniu, the Smith God, was said to have worked the mines here.
The area is pristine landscape where biodiversity thrives. There are a couple of hundred mature pine trees which can be harvested, and a further few hundred native trees. Pine marten, red deer, fox, badger, hedgehog, and hare are frequent visitors, as are countless wild birds.
The historical Mullagharve Mass Path Trail is a few metres from the house. Access is good along a private but well-maintained roadway. There are numerous walking trails to explore.
There are neighbours nearby enough for comfort and a small shop within walking distance down the road, but the unique charm of this cottage is the sacred landscape, the historical dwelling, and the feeling of being submerged in nature, on top of the world, untouched by modern society.
Drumshanbo is a 10-minute drive away, home of the world-famous Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin. The bustling tourism centre of Carrick-on-Shannon is 25 minutes awayViewing is strictly by Appointment available with Sole Selling Agent Only
